Airservices opens new fire station at Sunshine Coast Airport

Media are invited to attend the official opening of Australia's newest fire station at Sunshine Coast Airport on Thursday 20 May by Federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese. The $5 million fire station is part of a national upgrade of aviation facilities and will provide a vital first response to airport emergencies and ensure the safety of the travelling public. With an innovative, flexible and functional design, it is positioned to enable crews to respond to incidents anywhere on the airport within three minutes. Minister Albanese, Airservices CEO Greg Russell and General Manager Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Andrew Rushbrook will be available for interviews.

TIME: 1.30pm for 2pm ceremony
VENUE: Gate 21, Boundary Crescent, Marcoola QLD (note this gate is located on the opposite side of the airport from the passenger terminal).
