Airservices Renews Sponsorship Agreement with RFACA

Airservices will provide almost $100,000 to the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs of Australia (RFACA) to assist with flight training of young recreational aviation devotees over the next three years.

The sponsorship agreement supports the RFACA Learn to Fly Scholarship Competition that will see four Australians assisted to achieve their pilot's licence each year of the agreement.

Airservices Acting General Manager Corporate and International Affairs, Michelle Bennetts, said the agreement recognised the crucial role played by RFACA as an important institution in the growing Australian aviation industry.

"We're proud to support the work of RFACA as they help young people learn to fly safely and possibly consider a career in the aviation industry," Ms Bennetts said.

"This agreement is part of our wider contribution to the aviation industry and we look forward to building on this association with RFACA."

the airservices sponsorship will allow rfaca to provide each successful scholarship applicant with $7000 to subsidise the cost of flight training lessons with an instructor.

The scholarships offer a chance to develop basic aviation knowledge that could lead to a career in recreational, military or general commercial aviation.

"We hope these scholarships will encourage young flyers to become active, long-term members of the recreational aviation community and beyond," Ms Bennetts said.

The scholarships are available to male and female students at least 16 years old. Entrants must have no formal flying training before taking the required introductory flight and meet Private Pilot Licence Medical Standards.

More information about the scholarships is available at http://rfaca.com.au
