COMMENT FROM GARUDA INDONESIA RE HIGH COURT DECISION ON
YOGYAKARTA INCIDENT
"Garuda Indonesia has to accept the decision of the High Court.
"It is important to point out that the pilot involved in the crash resigned from Garuda
Indonesia after the investigation was completed. He has not been employed by the
company since then and we do not expect this situation to change.
"Garuda Indonesia once again offers its heartfelt condolences to the families
involved in this tragedy and we sympathize with the pain this decision will have
caused them.
“We wish to reassure everyone that the incident of March 2007 has not been in vain
as the airline has since invested heavily in pilot training and safety that resulted in
Garuda Indonesia recently receiving IOSA safety audit accreditation.
"Garuda Indonesia would like to assure the Australian community that the airline is
fully committed to doing all it can to meet, and exceed international standards
across every aspect of its operations."
