EUROJET's EJ200 Engine on Display at Paris Air Show 2009

HALLBERGMOOS and PARIS, June 15 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --

EUROJET Turbo GmbH, the leading European military engine

consortium is exhibiting the EJ200 engine at the Paris Air Show 2009.

Visitors to the Eurofighter pavilion (opposite the EUROJET Chalet, No.

A362-363) have the opportunity to view the advanced technology of the EJ200

engine, which powers the Eurofighter Typhoon. The display includes an

interactive engine monitor offering a unique look inside the engine and a

demonstration of how it operates.

EUROJET is contracted to produce more than 1,500 EJ200 engines

to power a total of 707 Eurofighter Typhoon swing-role combat aircraft,

ordered by six nations. More than 550 engines are already delivered to the

customers. The Eurofighter Typhoon fleets operated by the air forces of

Germany, The United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Austria have amassed more than

120,000 engine flying hours. In addition, the first EJ200 production engine

has achieved the significant milestone of 1,000 engine flying hours onboard a

Royal Air Force (RAF) Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. Achieved without the need

for unscheduled overhaul, this accomplishment demonstrates the superior

reliability of the EJ200, the next generation power plant representing the

very latest in cutting-edge technology, including advanced integrated Health

Monitoring to deliver class-leading reliability, maintainability and Through

Life Cost.

    NOTES TO EDITORS:

The EUROJET consortium is responsible for the management of

the development, support and export functions of the new generation EJ200

engine system, installed in the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. EUROJET's

shareholders comprise Avio (Italy), ITP (Spain), MTU Aero Engines (Germany)

and Rolls-Royce (UK). The EJ200 engine, with its unprecedented performance

record combined with multi-role capability and highest availability at low

life-cycle costs, is perfectly set to meet the air forces' demands, today and

in the future.
