THAI-RIFFIC! PACIFIC BLUE FLIGHTS FROM WA TO THAILAND TAKE
OFF TOMORROW
FROM PERTH TO PHUKET DIRECT FROM $349* ONE WAY
Friday 13 November 2009: Pacific Blue is gearing up to launch its brand new direct flights from Perth to
Thailand, with the airline’s inaugural service set for take-off at 10.35am tomorrow morning.
The flight will mark Virgin Blue Airlines Group’s
first foray into the Thailand
market, with the new Pacific Blue
flights to provide West Australian travellers with another choice of international destination alongside the airline’s
existing flights from Perth to Bali.
The weekly flight is already proving a hit with WA based holiday-makers who have been quick to book flights and
take advantage of the bargain air fares.
Virgin Blue Airlines Group carried out extensive research with regards to the preferred holiday playgrounds of
Australian travellers and Phuket rated highly due to Thailand being within comfortable flying distance (six and a
half hours from Perth),
its affordability
in terms of entertainment, massages, shopping, delicious dining, vibrant
nightlife, the wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets and the cultural experience it offers visitors.
Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said, “We’re really looking forward to adding another destination to our
network and pleased to be starting by offering WA travellers a new direct flight to Phuket. The Virgin Blue Airline
Group has made very clear our commitment to WA. We have been steadily expanding our Virgin Blue domestic and
regional operations most recently with increased Perth

Pacific Blue route from Perth to Thailand.”
To celebrate the new route, the airline has announced a $349

one-way “Tuk Tuk Off To Phuket” launch fare on
sale from now until midnight 22 November
2009, for travel on direct flights between Perth and Phuket from
January 19 – 23 March, 20 April – 22 June and 20 July – 16 September 2010.
Everyday lead in fares for Perth-Phuket flights will start from $399* one way on the net.
Brett Godfrey added, “Thailand is known as the
“Land of Smiles” and we have every intention of giving Perth
travellers plenty of reasons to smile when it comes to being able to afford to holiday in one of Asia’s most exotic
hot spots.”
The first Pacific Blue flight will have an onboard celebration including an in-flight fundraising campaign to raise
money for The Phuket Sunshine Village, an organisation established to take care of orphans.

While the launch schedule is designed to allow for a convenient week, three days or ten day Phuket getaway,
Virgin Blue will closely monitor demand for the new Phuket flights to determine future schedules and frequencies
increases based on support for the new services.
