Guide Dogs offers free training to Jetstar staff
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT has announced it will offer free training sessions to Jetstar staff in New
South Wales and the ACT, after recent allegations against Jetstar and its treatment of people
with disabilities, including a guide dog user.
Community Education Co-ordinator for Guide Dogs, Jennifer Moon says, We have worked
with both QantasLink and REX in the last few years, to ensure their staff know about the legal
access rights of guide dog users.
In our tailored training sessions we offer airline staff a chance to meet people who use guide
dogs, and we teach airline staff the correct guiding techniques so they know what to do when
assisting a passenger who is blind or has impaired vision she continues.
Guide dogs in-harness and their users are within their legal rights to enter all pubic places
including: airplanes, taxis, buses, restaurants and hospitals.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT has worked with more than 3600 people with vision loss in just the last
12 months.
