Jetstar Takes Off to the South Pacific
MELBOURNE, Australia, Mar. 29 /Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --
Low fares leader Jetstar has today celebrated its inaugural services to the South Pacific with first-time direct
flights to Fiji, one of the most popular destinations for Australian holidaymakers seeking a fun and friendly
beach international getaway just four hours from Sydney.
Jetstar, a Qantas Group airline, will now offer a four times weekly A320 service between Sydney and Nadi,
with connections available to and from Melbourne and other major Australian capital cities.
A delegation of Jetstar executives including Executive Manager Commercial David Koczkar today arrive in
Nadi aboard the inaugural Jetstar service.
Jetstar executives met with Government representatives including Attorney General and Minister for
Justice, Anti-Corruption, Public Enterprises, Industry, Tourism Trade and Communications Mr Aiyaz Sayed-
Khaiyum, as well as Airport and Tourism officials, at a welcome reception in Nadi.
Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan said since Jetstar had decided to enter the Fiji market, the
price of airfares from Australia to Fiji had dropped dramatically, making Fiji an even more attractive destination
for Australian holidaymakers.
Jetstar's services to Fiji operate with its modern A320 fleet and will offer the choice of portable video on
demand units for hire with latest movie releases, TV programs, music videos and audio and a range of hot
food, snacks, beverages and alcoholic drinks available for purchase.
Mr Buchanan said Jetstar had a positive outlook for its Fiji services.
"Fiji fits well into the extensive holiday destinations on offer through Jetstar's growing low fares network,
including Bali, Phuket, Bangkok, Singapore, Sydney, the Gold Coast and Melbourne.
"Jetstar is experiencing strong demand for our Fiji services and we look forward to stimulating further
growth. We will pursue future opportunities to build upon our existing services which will benefit the tourism
industry and broader economy of Fiji," Mr Buchanan said.
