QANTASLINK SAYS THANK YOU TO PORT LINCOLN FOR SUPPORT

PORT LINCOLN, 15 DECEMBER 2009: QantasLink today thanked the community of Port Lincoln for its overwhelming support, as the airline's `400 seats for $40' launch fare sale sold out in less than four hours yesterday.

The sale, celebrating the arrival of QantasLink on the Port Lincoln-Adelaide route from 15 February 2010, was so successful QantasLink has released another 400 seats for $40 this morning.

QantasLink Executive Manager, Mr Narendra Kumar, said QantasLink was excited about the support the local community had given QantasLink.

"We started selling these fares yesterday morning at 11.30am and by 3.30pm they were sold out. We were not expecting the sale to be so popular, but due to the demand, we have released another 400 seats for $40 dollars this morning," he said.

"We are overwhelmed with the support the South Australian community has shown to QantasLink since we announced our new services earlier this month.

"We are really encouraged by the letters and emails we are receiving from locals who are excited that QantasLink is bringing its 74-seat jet like Q400 aircraft to town. Our aircraft is a state-of-the-art regional aircraft with a full food and beverage service, and we will connect Port Lincoln to Qantas' domestic and international network which will benefit the local tourism industry.

"Competition in regional markets benefits regional communities which often don't have as much choice as their city counterparts. We are pleased to be able to deliver competition to the people of Port Lincoln."

QantasLink will operate 23 return services and 3,400 seats, on the Port Lincoln-Adelaide route each week, all operated by the airline's brand new Bombardier Q400 aircraft.

QantasLink has invested over $600 million in 21 new Q400 aircraft since 2006. These aircraft will operate alongside the airline's fleet of five Q200, 16 Q300 and 11 B717 aircraft, currently providing around 1,800 flights each week to 53 metropolitan and regional destinations throughout Australia.

QantasLink's 400 seats for $40* sale is on now for travel between 15 February to 30 November 2010.

* All prices include charges and taxes, additional booking fees may be incurred when booking with agents.
