Brisbane based Strategic Aviation Group Pty Ltd has been granted new Air Operator Certificates in both the Australian and European aviation markets enabling the company to further its plans for Australian domestic and international operations and European charter services.

The Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has granted STRATEGIC Airlines an unrestricted three year AOC, while the Luxembourg Ministry of Transport, Direction De L'Aviation Civile has granted the aviation group's European division a Luxembourg AOC to undertake European charter services.

"We welcome the scrutiny and endorsement of both CASA and Direction De L'Aviation Civile," said Chief Executive Officer David Blake.

"Our highest priority is the safety of our operation and the approval of the regulators allows us to proceed with confidence in both markets," he said.

"In Western Australia, Queensland and Indonesia, Strategic Airlines has enjoyed a positive response to our entry to commercial operations and we look forward to assessing further opportunities," he added.

STRATEGIC Airline's commercial operations will utilise Airbus A330-200 and Airbus A320-200 aircraft. Launched in September 2009 the airline currently flies from Perth to Derby and Denpasar and Brisbane to Port Hedland and Denpasar. Brisbane-Townsville-Denpasar services will commence from 3 December, 2010.

STRATEGIC plans to increase its Australia-Bali services after being granted the largest share of available capacity between Australia and Indonesia.

In a draft determination issued on 29 September, 2010, the International Air Services Commission (IASC) proposed to award Strategic 1514 seats against an original request for 1716 seats.

The Strategic Aviation Group formed in 2005 now comprises three divisions. 'Strategic Aviation'(aircraft brokerage, logistics and cargo solutions); 'Strategic Europe' (charter and wet lease ACMI services within Europe) and new Australian market commercial airline entrant 'STRATEGIC Airlines'
