Abigroup builds five new Melbourne schools
Abigroup, as part of the Axiom Education Victoria consortium, has built five new
schools across the greater metropolitan Melbourne area.
One of the new schools, Alkira Secondary College in Cranbourne North, was officially
opened by Education Minister Bronwyn Pike today on the first day of the new school
year.
The other four schools, which also opened their doors today to pupils for the first
time, are Cranbourne Carlisle, Derrimut and Taylors Hill primary schools and Point
Cook P-9 College.
The opening of the five new schools represents the completion of the first half of the
Partnerships Victoria in Schools Project - which will see 11 schools in all built by
Abigroup through a Public Private Partnership with the Victorian State Government.
Abigroups Project Director Matthew Davies said, Abigroup is delighted to have
built the first five schools of the Partnerships Victoria in Schools Project in good time
for the start of the new school year.
We are proud of these new schools which have been built to the highest standards
and offer world-class, flexible teaching and learning environments.
The other six schools in the Project, which are due to open in January 2011, are:
Craigieburn West Primary School;
Cranbourne East P-12 School;
Kororoit Creek Primary School;
