Opportunities for Local Employment

Local builders, tradespeople, contractors, suppliers, business representatives, service

providers and other interested parties are invited to attend a public forum where

Abigroup will outline opportunities to participate in the “Building the Education

Revolution” (BER) program for schools in the Sydney Region.

Abigroup’s overall package of works in the Australian Government’s Nation Building

Economic Stimulus Plan involves managing the design and construction of a wide

range of facilities and improvements at 177 schools within the Bondi, Port Jackson, St

George and Sutherland areas.

Abigroup is now actively seeking participants in local project teams being formed to

take responsibility for the construction delivery of the specific works required at each

school. Individual projects may include a communal hall, covered learning area,

library, classrooms, administration block, toilet block or the upgrade of existing

facilities.

While we have already fielded enquiries from potential participants, we’re keen to

maximise local community involvement,” said Abigroup’s Stakeholder & Community

Engagement Manager, Matt Frodsham. “So we’re conducting two open sessions later

this month to provide further details, invite participation and respond to any

questions.”

The first session will be conducted at Gymea TAFE, Kingsway, Sutherland on 22 June,

commencing at 4.00pm. An identical session is scheduled for 29 June at the Leichhardt

Town Hall, 107 Norton Street, Leichhardt, also commencing at 4.00pm. Each public

forum is expected to run for one hour, followed by the chance to discuss aspects of the

program in an informal environment over tea and coffee.

While it is not mandatory to make a booking, potential attendees are encouraged to

register, to assist in preparations for the forum. Please direct any queries about the

forums to Matt Frodsham on Ph. (02) 9499 0999 or by email to:
