Otis' Energy-Efficient Elevators Selected for Longtan City Industry Zone
FARMINGTON, Conn., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
Otis Elevator Company was awarded a contract to supply and install 334 energy-
efficient Gen2(R) elevators for the Longtan City Industry Zone in Chengdu, China. Otis,
a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), is the largest elevator supplier for
the 32-million-square-foot (3-million-square-meter) development. The site, being
developed by the Chengdu Yudu Industry Limited Corporation, will feature
environmentally-friendly industries, companies and residential housing.
During a meeting with Zhang Jun, Chairman, Chengdu Yudu Industry Limited Corporation
at the Longtan City Industry Zone construction site last week, Otis President Didier
Michaud-Daniel said, "Otis is honored to be the largest elevator supplier for a

The Gen2 system reduces energy usage by up to 50 percent when compared to
conventional systems. The system is also cleaner for the environment as its flat,
polyurethane-coated steel belts and permanent magnet gearless machine do not require
additional lubrication. Otis has earned numerous awards for its Gen2 technology
including the China Environmental Protection Foundation's "Green Product Award" and
recognition as one of the "Top 10 Construction Scientific and Technological Achievements
in China" by the Ministry of Construction.
