On Friday night the hotel, envisioned
and developed by Brisbane’s Tony and Francine John

since opening, did the double and took out Best Luxury
Accommodation
at the 2009
Queensland Tourism Awards. It was the second year running the hotel has won the award.
The hotel has dominated industry and travel awards since opening, being named one of the world’s best
new hotels in the International l Conde Nast Travellers Hotlist and taking titles out at the Queensland and
Australian Tourism Awards, the Queensland and Australian Hotels Association Awards, the Australian
Gourmet Traveller Awards, the HM Awards for Excellence and more.
Hotel owner Mr. Tony John said the awards were testament to the vision and commitment needed in
dreaming of creating a hotel like Emporium Hotel; and in then realising it, and paid tribute to the hundreds
of people who have been part of the journey.
“Emporium Hotel Brisbane is an independently owned and operated property, one where we set our own
standards of excellence, and where we create our own levels of expectations. It is certainly a thrill to see
that industry associations and peers across the world recognise these, however our most important
barometer will always remain our guest,” said Mr John.
Determined to show peers and judges it had
not
rested on its laurels since taking out the title last year,
Emporium Hotel’s entry focused on its many innovative packages and programs developed over the past
year.
“This past year has seen us expand and fine-tune our range of custom-created guest experiences,

John said.
