Coalition calls for asbestos-free Australia by 2030
The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU), the Australian Council of Trade
Unions and Cancer Council Australia will convene a national summit to call for coordinated
national action on asbestos removal.
The summit aims to create a coalition involving unions, asbestos disease experts, regulatory
bodies and asbestos support groups, who will work towards making Australia asbestos-free
by 2030. The aim of the summit is to call for the establishment of an independent national
authority on asbestos to work across all jurisdictions.
