Hobart Cleaners' 'No Longer Invisible' Photo Exhibition and Afternoon Tea

2.30 pm TODAY Friday 16 October

An Anti-Poverty Week good news story!

As a part of Anti-Poverty Week 2009 the LHMU Tasmanian Branch will hold a cleaners' afternoon tea and photo exhibition at 2:30 pm in Hobart today.

Twelve months ago in Anti-Poverty Week Tasmanian cleaners protested on the steps of Parliament demanding respect and that building owners and cleaning contractors sign on to support the Clean Start fair go for cleaners campaign.

In the following months hundreds of cleaners had their photos taken to show building owners and tenants that cleaners were real, they existed and they deserved to be treated with respect - no longer would they be the invisible workers.

Now in October 2009 with the campaign going so well and the State Government signing on to Clean Start presenting these photos to building owners and tenants is no longer necessary.

So today cleaners will celebrate with an afternoon tea and exhibition of a selection of these photos of the cleaners who are no longer invisible.

Details of 'NO LONGER INVISIBLE' a celebration of the amazing people who keep our buildings clean:
