Postal workers to rally in Sydney tomorrow
Australia Post workers will rally in protest in Sydney tomorrow following
management’s decision to walk away from negotiations with the
workforce.
The Communication Electrical and Plumbing Union (CEPU) said that from
12midnight tonight postal workers would walk off the job as part of their
industrial action before heading to the rally in the city centre.
CEPU NSW Secretary Jim Metcher said the rally comes among growing
anger and frustration among postal workers toward Australia Post.

When: Strictly between 6.30am and 8am, Tuesday 22nd of December

Where: 21 Factory Street Granville, outside the Australia Post Sydney
Transport Centre and Gateway facility from 6.30am to 8am Tuesday
“Workers are fighting for a postal service that is run by a committed, full-
time workforce; where customers receive a reliable and quality service
when they need it,” Mr Metcher said.
“Australia Post management is driving an agenda that would see the
postal service dominated by part-time employment, fewer post offices and
much longer waiting times for customers.
“One of the reasons this industrial dispute has become so bitter is that the
workers are taking a stand against this management agenda that they see
as the death-knell for a reliable and quality postal service.”
Note: A protest rally of postal workers is planned for 12noon
tomorrow, Tuesday 22 December outside Australia Post
