FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

   26th MARCH 2009

GLOBAL MOTORSPORT SUCCESS, LOCAL MANUFACTURING PRIDE

It promises to be another winning weekend in Melbourne for Bridgestone, the only official

tyre supplier to the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Slick tyres are making their comeback, and Bridgestone’s Potenza Formula One tyres will be a

vital part of any winning strategy.

But while the focus of the world’s media will be on the Australian Formula One Grand Prix,

Bridgestone Australia is working hard to ensure another important message is heard.

That’s because Bridgestone is also the only manufacturer of tyres in Australia - and it’s

launched a campaign to remind motorists to think local.

The “Drive on Australian Made” message has been launched with showroom signage across

the company’s network of 260 Bridgestone Select, Bridgestone Tyre Centre and Bridgestone

Service Centre stores across Australia.

“In addition to our access to global tyre technology and products, Bridgestone is now the

only manufacturer of tyres in Australia and we believe that should be an important

consideration for motorists,” said Shawn Hara, Bridgestone Australia Ltd Managing Director.

“The tyres we manufacture at our Adelaide facility aren’t just made in Australia. They’re also

designed specifically for our tough Australian conditions. In fact, we invest significantly in

research, design and testing to ensure that our tyres offer class-leading dynamics, durability

and safety.

“So, while the world will see Bridgestone’s commitment to global motorsport success on

every car at this weekend’s race, we want to quietly remind Australian motorists that we’re

proudly manufacturing quality locally-made products for Australian conditions.”

Bridgestone’s facility at Salisbury in Adelaide’s northern suburbs is now the only tyre plant in

Australia following the recent closure of the South Pacific Tyres factory in Melbourne.

Bridgestone manufactures more than 100 tyre sizes and patterns at Salisbury and is

continuing to invest in the local development and manufacture of products such as high

performance and low profile patterns for passenger car tyres, 4x4 tyres and 22.5 inch truck

tyres.

Bridgestone Australia Ltd. is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, the largest tyre manufacturer in the world,

and employs more than 1500 at facilities around Australia including 600 at its major tyre manufacturing plant in

Salisbury, South Australia. Bridgestone Australia Ltd. is a major supplier to manufacturers such as Holden, HSV,

Kenworth and Volvo Trucks, and is a major tyre and service provider to most major transport operators and retails

tyres through its own franchise channels - Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Tyre Centres - as well as other

channels.
