Air Safety Authority chooses Netcat

In an era when air safety is paramount and recent incidents by major airlines have not instilled confidence in modern air travel, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is being proactive in addressing the need for timely and accurate information dissemination.

To facilitate this process, Netcat's Web Content Management (WCM) software has been chosen by CASA as the solution for an enterprise level Web Content Management System. The project also includes Support Services as well as the migration of current content from the existing CASA website.

The objective of refining the CASA website is to effectively respond to the increasing need for CASA to undertake high quality communication initiatives. CASA recognises that well designed and managed websites can support many of the activities it undertakes and can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of those activities.

The CASA website is now seen as a key tool in disseminating regulatory and safety information to the industry. CASA needs to refine the website in order to achieve the objective of providing online information, services, support and resources to industry individuals and organisations in line with their needs.

CASA had issued a public Request for Tender to which Netcat responded resulting in the signing of a Software and Services contract in late 2008.

One of the key criteria for selection of the Netcat solution was speed of deployment given CASA's desire to complete the first phase of the project in early 2009. Netcat's ability to reference previous experiences in delivering quick wins to various organisations supported this requirement.
