Export Growth: Leading our economic

recovery?

Working through one of the world’s worst financial slumps in nearly a century,

New South Wales exporters seemed to have found a way to continue to thrive

and expand into unfamiliar sectors of the business world.

Despite the

difficulties, these daring exporters made headway into some of the toughest

markets in the world.  In spite of this, as we near the end of 2009, Australia

can be happy to say that times ahead appear brighter as the economy seems

to improve. This change in the economic trend is in great part due to these

bold exporters who took risks even in the most unfortunate times and

persevered.

The theme of the 2009 Premier’s NSW Export Awards this year was keeping

the focus on export growth. “We feel that the continual growth of exporters

drives the resurgence of the economy.” Ian Murray Executive Director of the

Australian Institute of Export, expressed at the beginning of the awards

campaign that “he would not be surprised when exports produced an economic

recovery.” Furthermore, he stated at the end of the campaign “After reading

the export awards entries and listening to the winners when accepting their

awards I am even more convinced that export is driving the recovery.”

Consequently, it is of great importance that we take time to celebrate the

excellence in Australian Export.  Through the 2009 Premier’s NSW Export

Awards recognise and showcase the top exporters of New South Wales. The

2009 NSW export awards winners are role models to encourage other

businesses to strive for success in world markets who who have really gone

above and beyond the norm and are a key examples for growing businesses.

Ian Murray said “It’s an honour to be part of any program that recognizes

excellence but an even greater honour to recognize the companies and people

that have taken on the world, in very difficult times and won.” We feel that

exceptional companies deserve recognition and admiration.  The 2009

Premier’s NSW Export Awards winners are listed below. We hope that each

year more organizations expand their businesses through export and strive to

become the Premier Awards winners.
